Sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability

As a wholly owned South Australian business, Lanser is passionate about our beautiful state. With SA DNA at our core, we deeply care about the legacy we leave behind in our developments.

Building a Better Future

At Lanser, we believe that creating places for people to call home should positively impact the broader community. Our philosophy, that life is “better by design,” underscores our commitment to thoughtful, well-designed communities that enhance well-being and responsibly serve our residents today and for generations to come.

Our sustainable practices

Lanser goes beyond creating connected communities. Our team is constantly exploring innovative ways to:

Our Lanser Living team designs and delivers intelligent turnkey homes, ensuring accessible price points for homebuyers without compromising on quality.

Through our projects, we support small businesses, foster regional growth, and contribute to a thriving workforce.

Our ethos is to always build, collaborative partnerships with all of our stakeholders, including local government, contractors and our residents.

We are committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive work environment, where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed.

Our team ensures that safety and well-being is top priority on all our projects.

Our core values are centered on being a fair, credible, and professional development group dedicated to excellence and the creation of high-quality, liveable places.

Pioneering Sustainable Practices

Lanser is always on the lookout for new sustainable approaches. We were the first company in South Australia to install LED street lights, we have built infrastructure in our developments from eco-friendly recycled plastics, and we are currently trialling a local company’s innovative stormwater harvesting technology. Our commitment to stewardship and responsible leadership drives us to continuously improve our practices.

Tree Retention and Urban Design

At Lanser, tree retention is a fundamental aspect of our urban design philosophy. We strive to incorporate mature trees into our developments whenever possible, protecting them with permeable paving and water-sensitive urban design.

We adjust street layouts to preserve these natural assets, as exemplified in Aston Hills, where we designed a mountain bike trail park around a beautiful selection of mature trees on site. Beyond retaining existing trees, we plant hundreds of new trees in each development, enhancing street landscapes, parks, and reserves.

This commitment to maintaining and expanding tree canopies helps reduce heat load, encourages biodiversity, and ensures a green legacy for future generations.

Award-Winning Environmental Excellence

In 2021, Lanser proudly received the UDIA (SA) Award for Environmental Excellence for our Water Sensitive Urban Design in the Central Lakes precinct at Aston Hills. This recognition reflects our belief that thoughtful and creative urban design can elevate the built environment and create a lasting legacy for future generations.

Lanser have been a key client of Outerspace for over 23 years and we have found the company to be collaborative, innovative and progressive in their visioning and project delivery. As a team they embrace key values such as a sense of place, high quality open space and sustainability, as demonstrated in the award-winning Freeling Estate (UDIA 2011 Award for Excellence – Residential Development 50 to 600 lots). The project has transformed the township, producing positive community and environmental change.

Designing for Green Exercise

At Lanser, we prioritise designing our developments to promote green exercise, ensuring that residents of all ages and abilities have ample opportunities to stay healthy outdoors. Our aim is for every home to be within 300 meters of a green space, seamlessly integrating fitness and walking trails throughout our communities.

We also incorporate engaging features such as mountain bike parks, skate parks, basketball rings, playgrounds, and nature play areas to cater to children of all ages, fostering an active and vibrant lifestyle for everyone.

Engaging and Enriching Communities

Our commitment to community goes beyond development; we actively engage with our residents to foster lasting connections and build vibrant neighbourhoods. We sponsor local sporting clubs, contributing to the health and vitality of the community.

Additionally, we activate our communities by celebrating special events and holidays, and hosting activities such as boot camps and on-site library sessions to bring the community together. By supporting local sports and organising community events, we create opportunities for residents to connect, stay active, and enjoy a sense of community spirit.

I love collaborating with the Lanser team on community events at Aston Hills - they look at the event holistically and no requests are too much trouble.  It’s been great to engage with the wider audience of Mount Barker Districts at Aston Hills and showcase the library's children’s program.
